Madr, huh?

Madr, huh? is a comic that recounts, with a dose of humor, the process of Lyona Ivanova (author) to achieve motherhood. The Spanish illustrator and video clip director decided to capture in this publication the ups and downs that a woman encounters to get pregnant when age, disease and endometriosis get in the way.

Marta Puig, better known artistically as Lyona Ivanova, always knew that she wanted to be a mother. But some circumstances did not allow her until she was almost 40. Economic instability, professional ambition and different partners who were not looking for the same thing as her, delayed the possibility of becoming pregnant.

At 36 years old and without a partner, she is willing to venture into motherhood alone. However, she meets her current partner and at 39 they get down to work. She never thought she couldn't get pregnant and, without imagining what she was getting into, begins a dizzying process to conceive.

After four years going through the complex and long journey of assisted reproduction, the search ends successfully for her and her husband. But at that time discovered that there is a lot of misinformation about the menstrual cycle and fertility.

That is why he decides to write this book, to normalize and make visible that things are not as many expect and that it is not always possible to carry all the weight that this type of process places on women's shoulders. The comic tells of his experience with a lot of humor, at the same time provides reliable information on fertility.

In his own words, decided to write Madr, huh? to 'channel everything that was happening'. When the woman enters an assisted reproduction process, she carries a lot of frustration, fear, nerves, among other emotions, and this comic can be an escape valve for all of them.
